Getting here

Note: transport to and from Stradbroke Island and Griffith University lab tours will be provided.

Getting to Women’s College from the Airport

Address: Women’s College, College Rd, St Lucia QLD 4067. UQ map (opens in new tab).

We will have a registration booth set up near the reception of Women’s College from 4-6pm on Sunday 26 Nov. You can receive your delegate bag, name tag and accommodation check-in details from this time. Check-in to the conference accomodation will also be available at Women’s College Reception from 8am.

Tip 1: Easiest way is to get an Uber, and definitely cheapest if you are in two or more. If not, a combination of train and bus would be the cheapest.

Tip 2: Travelling with a local transport card (GoCard) in the Brisbane area is cheaper than the cost of a paper ticket. We recommend getting one to also cover transport to and from our Conference Dinner at the Riverside district. The deposit ($10) can be claimed back when you leave. You may purchase a GoCard from the Airtrain terminals at the airport. Don’t forget to tap on and off!

At the Domestic Terminal, the taxi rank is located centrally in front of the terminal.

At the International Terminal, the taxi rank is located at the northern end of Arrivals on Level 2.

These taxis from the airport to the address above: might cost $50-80

Uber from the airport to the address above: might cost $36-47  (ask them to avoid tolls!)

Public Transport

There are no public buses directly from the airport.

You can catch the Airtrain from either terminals to Park Road Station, then walk across to the Boggo Road Busway Station and catch a bus from platform 6 (the one furtherest from the trains) directly to UQ Lakes Station (route 66, 139, 169 or 209).

It is cheaper if you purchase your ticket online in advance (note this does not include the bus ride from Park Road Station to UQ, for which you will need a GoCard or paper ticket), otherwise you can use a GoCard to get you from the airport all the way to UQ ($21.20). A paper ticket would cost $22.60.

Getting to and from KOALA’s 10th Anniversary Conference Dinner (Navala Churrascaria)

Address: Riverside Centre, 123 Eagle St, Brisbane 4000.

We strongly recommend the scenic route of travelling down the river on a CityCat – it’s not only a very enjoyable ride that cruises you through Brisbane City, but the CityCat stop is also very close to the restaurant!

You may call one to Women’s College, or try the taxi rank at UQ (at the roundabout at the end of Chancellors Place). Taxis might cost $24-35 while an UberX might be $17-23.

Public Transport

All options should cost $3.20 one way on the GoCard, or $4.60 for a paper ticket (purchase a single zone ticket for zone 1). For all options we recommend checking the Translink Journey Planner (travelling from UQ Lakes Station to Navala Churrascaria).

Option 1: CityCat

Walk to the UQ St Lucia Ferry Terminal and jump on the CityCat towards Northshore Hamilton (NOT Southbank unless you want to change ferries!). Get off at the Riverside Ferry Terminal. Total travel time ~45 mins, with services departing approximately every 15 minutes. Make sure to check the timetable!

The last service returning to UQ departs the Riverside Ferry Terminal at 11:08pm.

Option 2: Bus

Catch a 66 Bus (to RBWH) from the UQ Lakes Station – this is the easiest option of getting to dinner from UQ. You have two options:

  1. Get off at the Cultural Centre (platform 1) and catch a 210 bus (also from platform 1) to Eagle Street near Eagle Lane (stop 63), Brisbane City.
  2. Get off at King George Square Bus Station and walk to the riverside precinct.

On your return to UQ, you may catch the:

  1. 66 Bus (to UQ Lakes) from King George Square Bus Station 2E. There is a service every 15 minutes, with the last service departing 10.08pm.
  2. 412 Bus (to UQ Chancellors Place) from Roma Street Stop near Ann Street. There is a service every 15 minutes, with the last service departing 11.47pm.
